With the inspection port installed it provided the opportunity to see down
into the tank. This unit is completely glass with the water pick tube almost
at the bottom of the area under the little seat. I used the inspection to
empty the tank prior to winter by placing a hose at that deepest point.

It did not appear that the tank was leaking from the fittings on the top. I
did not think to check the forepeak area, but I have never had leakage there
before. I will look more closely at that area when I go back (I live 130
miles inland).
So the small seat is part of a larger tank that includes some space under
the v berths? I have difficulty understanding how that would work. Is the
tank just fiberglassed wood plus the hull sides? If so, it seems unlikely
that water could migrate under it from the forepeak. What are you guys
using for inspection ports - standard 6" screw-in ports?
