[Public-list] Anyone looking for a project A-30?

I agree with Mike, the boats are worthy of restoration. That also point out
one of the real values of the Association and of the "member" and "public"
lists.
I purchased #441 in the winter of 2000 in Annapolis. She is my first boat, I
was, and to some extend still am, a babe in the woods. Without the willing
help from the people on this list, I am not at all sure that I could have
done everything that I have upgraded over the last 4 years. I am like Roger,
I like working on the boat almost as much as sailing.
I now receive compliments about the classic looks and grace of "SallyB"
almost every time I am at the Marina. I take a great deal of pride in the
fact that people tell me that the care shows.

My thanks to all and Happy New Year

Bill Ydel

I think the phrase "needs work" is a relative phrase that depends on the
owner's skill level, time and money. The bottom line is that the Alberg 30
is a boat worthy of a considerable amount of restoration. They all started
out equal, but their present-day condition is a direct reflection of how
well the have been cared for over the past 30+ years and the modifications
that have been made. Just like with most things, there aren't many 'deals'
to be had. An Alberg 30 that is priced real low will needs lots of work,
whereas one that one's in the higher price ranges don't need much or just
cosmetics. Accessories that come with the boat aren't worth much (unless it
is new). I even suspect a diesel engine that comes with a $5K boat - the
theory...if the boat hasn't been taken care of, what about the engine? That
is the single most expensive piece of hardware on the boat. Just my thoughts
on the subject.
