Paul, All of your observations about the Alberg 30 are correct. I have been sailing for 40 + years , mostly club racing on several boats through the years. One of the was a Pearson Ensign that I raced for several years. I loved the way she sailed and became an immediate fan of Alberg designed boats.
I have owned Sonsy, hull # 200 built in 1966, for two years now. I just LOVE this wonderful boat! Not only is she beautiful to look at, she is a beautiful boat to sail. Some of the early boats were made with an exotic African hardwood called" afromosia". All of Sonsy's wood is afromosia. All of the interior wood, the toe rail , combing boards and hatches. It is darker that teak and I have varnish on mine, just beautiful!
The association is an asset that is a bonus unparalleled out there in the old boat world. I even belong to the Chesapeake Bay Alberg 30 Association and I am in Rockport, Texas.
You can't go wrong with an Alberg 30
Cheers,
Tim Erwin
