The other side of the low oil pressure story:

4 or 5 years ago, after a cylinder replacement (Don't ask why.),
I had what I thought was a similar low oil pressure problem. The
pressure was reasonably high at startup but soon dropped to
near the single digit range. Mike Lehman, if I remember right,
said that was the sign of a good engine job, for a reason I can't
recall. Anyway, the old girl, 1966 A4, is still chugging away in
good health.
