    1) I have the same loose tiller with the cap clamped by a bolt
through two ears. I reamed the ears out to accept a cut-down bronze
bushing, but as you say, it doesn't stay fixed. Not loose on the
rudderpost, but loose between the cap (which is very firmly attached to
the post) and the fitting on the end of the tiller. I can't seem to get
it to stay tight.

2) I can't seem to find my maintenance manual after the move down here.
Could you possibly send me a photocopy of the rudder fix? I need to be
certain how the rudder is fastened to the keel (Hull # 275) for
installing the stuffing box for the wheel-steering. I think the rudder
must be lowered almost clear of the hull to put the stuffing gland on
and then the quadrant.
