Tom,
That is a little high! Is she equally as low in the stern? Carina Vela
sits a good 4-5 inches high in the bow, and a little less in the stern area.
The waterline is generally about 2" out of the water at the beam. These
measurements are with fully loaded tanks. I think that Alberg designed the
boat so when she was fullly loaded with stores for cruising, she would sit
fairly level on the water-line. The nice thing about the waterline sitting so
high is that you avoid getting grasses on the bootstripe.
Well, at least she is finally in the water!
