On mine, the batteries are underneath the cabin sole. There's no soft stuff and no shelf. Maybe they changed the set up on later models?

Subject: [alberg30] Bilge
Upon putting my recently acquired A30 up for the winter I removed the batteries from the bilge. The batteries sit on the first level and then there is a hole chopped in the floor through what seems like a soft fiberglass material. Below that is the actual bilge (I guess) and a bilge pump. Is that soft material rotten fiberglass or what? Any ideas?
