Joe,

I think the name is "klegecell."  I don't have the catalog handy to
look it up, but you can get it from Fiberglass Coatings in Florida
(http://www.fgci.com/ 800-272-7890).  I use the densest foam for 
maximum stiffness.

Styrofoam would just dissolve in the resin.

I've just done the lower cabintop in the area of the mast step and
I used this foam.  I think it's suitable anywhere balsa is.  In
high load areas (such as under stanchion bases and cleats), I plan
to use solid glass with no core.
