The older boats have a fiberglas tube extending to the cockpit sole.
The newer boats have a stuffing box on the rudder tube. They are a
pain to get to. Some people have been able to adjust them by reaching
under the cockpit from the lazarette. I couldn't get it to budge
from there. I'm planning to cut out part of the plywood bulkhead in
the port cockpit locker and reach it from there. Then I'll re-attach
that bulkhead. This was the way Jim Mennucci reached his.
