I'VE OFFEN THOUGHT OF PUTTING WHEEL STEERING ON "BATHTUB MARY" #312.THE
PEDESTAL STEERING IDEA WENT OVER THE SIDE QUICKLY DUE TO THE SPACE LOSS IN A
COCKPIT THAT IS NOT LARGE IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHAT I ALWAYS THOUGHT WAS A GOOD
ALTERNITIVE WAS THE EDSON RACK AND PINION SYS. IT DOESN'T SEAM TO EAT UP
COCPIT SPACE AND LOOKS PERTY SALTY. IT DOES'NT SEAM TO BE A REMADEE FOR
MOUNTING YOUR INSTERMENTATION IF THATS A GOAL. IT DOES HOW EVER BRING ME TO A
QUESTION THAT I'VE BEEN CONTMPLATING ABOUT MY SAILING GAGES AND THERE LOCATION
ON THE PORT SIDE BULK HEAD NEXT TO THE CONPAINIONWAY. IT SEAMS THAT SOMEONE IS
ALWAYS SITTING IN FRONT OF THEM OR THE LOUVERED DOOR IS HIDING THE GAGE I NEED
TO SEE AT THE TIME. I WOULD LIKE A LITTLE FEED BACK ON AN IDEA I'VE TGOT ABOUT
THERE PLACEMENT... I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT BUILDING A PANEL OUT OF TEAK THAT
WOULD SIT ON TOP OF THE HATCH COVER. IT WOULD FOLLOW THE CONTOUR OF THE COVER
FROM PORT TO STARBOARD AND BE FOR MY GAGES ABOUT 6 IN. DEEP AND HOUSE FOUR
GAGES. I WOULD HAVE A COIL CABLE (FOR ALL THE ELECTRIC) THAT WOULD ACOMODATE
THE HATCH MOVEMENT AND I THINK THE PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED. I HAVE SEEN SUCH
THINGS ON HATCH HOODS BUT NOT DIRECTLY MOUNTED TO THE HATCH COVER.
