Paul,
    Well, we were putting salt on a completely wooden boat. I use Clorox
to clean my boat and have not noticed any problems. Let me say I don't
salt my boat - I don't seem to collect much fresh water though in heavy
rains a little gets into the bilge. I do not think rock salt will hurt
anything except metals but am not expert on that.
