Janet:

Hello again there, I went off on a tangent but didn't address all your
questions.

Definitely no to the Aft lazarette which should hold nothing heavier
than lifejackets and perhaps the boats trash when cruising.

When you say "Lazarettes" do you mean the port and stb cockpit lockers?

Personally I think they are valuable storage space and I'd think again
of removing the new tank to somewhere other than under the cockpit sole.

If you want additional tankage a custom tank in the most forward part of
the stb cockpit locker would have the least deleterious effect unless
you could fit one underneath the cabin sole. A cabin sole
installation would need to be insulated so the tank wouldn't sweat
excessively inside and provided your particular boat wouldn't need a
major demolition job of the sole to install it. The other problem is
you would have to put a fuel pump in as I doubt the Atomic one has
sufficient lift on its own.

As for gasoline in the bilge, if the tank springs a leak no matter where
you site it it will endup in the bilge which, as you doubtless know, is
why one must always blow the bilge and sniff the exhaust cowl vent
before starting. The same is true with fumes, but thankfully
gasoline stinks to high heaven which is helpful.

A 33' Bruce, I'm reminded of Paul Hogan's line in Crocodile Dundee; "You
call that a knife, that's not a knife, NOW THIS, THIS IS A KNIFE!" - and
that, THAT IS AN ANCHOR, good choice!

Good luck and fair winds,
