Hello Everyone,

Any advice as to how to remove the cutless bearing - the surveyor said it needed to be replaced. Upon removing the stuffing box, we found it isn't quite like the usual types of bearings, but is rubber and not too easy to remove. Any suggestions?

On the engine front - the saga continues. We thought that the A4 was in pretty good shape - and it is, really, considering how long it had been idle. However, the A4 guru in our area has come back with a rebuild estimate(rapidly approaching $4000Cdn) that is
once again making us reconsider the deisel option. The cylinders need regrinding, two pistons are shot, the water pump needs to be replaced, and a heat exchanger added on among other things. The best price on deisel we've seen so far is a new Kubota D905 for
$6000 but would apparently require an adaptor($450) to fit our transmission(the make and condition of which we are not yet sure of). Of course, there are all sorts of other things that will probably need to be replaced as well(eg. instrument panel). All this
engine deliberation is at least giving us time on dry dock to give her a good work-over.

By the way, our Alberg is number 175.

Catherine
