Catherine, One man's opinion is that you get the original engine running if 
it's possible.  Considering what I think you paid for the boat, and the cost 
of a diesel, it hardly makes sense.  You will never, IMHO, get it back in 
resale value, and the aggravation factor is huge.  You might have to remove 
or replace the gas tank because of goop and rust in it.  Get some more 
opinions, because the fuel savings compare to the cost don't add up.  Russ
