Joe, Sorry, didn't mean to throw water on your fire.  I have a dodger, and I 
love it at times; a hot day  ( it actualy makes the breeze through the boat 
better, and cuts heat in the cabin, and provides shade)  Nasty weather, 
(beating against a chop, or current and a chop)  hearv rain.  It's just 
sometimes it's in the way.  (reefing, raising sails, going forward)  
Sometimes I fold it down.  Good luck with your project.
