I suspect that your question is not in reference to the outboard motor mount
but what what appears to be a modification to the lower portion of the
stern.  However this apparent protrusion is an optical illusion caused by a
combination of the camera angle and the interplay of light and shadow on the
curved stern. Look again carefully and you'll be able to pick out the actual
stern line.
