Carl,

I have a newer boat (with balsa coring), but it's my understanding
that the masonite coring of the older boats is extremely resistant
to rot.  If neglected enough, this could become a problem, but it
seems to be rare in practice.  I would suggest sounding the deck
with a plastic hammer or some such object.  There is a noticeable
difference in sound between good and delaminated deck areas.
