Dick,

Davis Instruments makes a very reputable sail maintenance package.  It is
sold at pretty much any marine store (West, Boat US, etc.), and consists of
a sail bath, and a stain remover spray solution.  It will take mildew and
other stains out of the sail, and some rust, depending on how long it has
been in the cloth.
