I see that there are several LI sailors on the list. We are
thinking of sailing Calliope from Cape May to Block Island this August
(presuming I get it back together). Given the prevailing winds, our first
thought is to tack from Block Island over to someplace on the mainland, the
next day tack to Long Island,
And repeat the process until we get to NYC.

I'm wondering what people have used successfully as a primary anchor
around LI sound. Our primary is a Danforth HT 20 on 20ft of 1/4 inch chain,
backed up by a 20lb (a little small me thinks) genuine CQR on 10 feet of
5/16s. This combination has worked out really well on the Chesapeake, if one
won't hold the other will.

What sort of anchoring conditions might we expect, and what are
recommendations for suitable ground tackle?

	Thanks

	Tom F.
	Calliope #287
