Tom, I don't have a SeaHood and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
The dodger is wonderful.  It has the following advantages:

Keeps you out of the spray
It blocks the wind when it is cold
It should have an opening front window so it can be opened on hot days
to not block the breeze
It can keep you out of the sun to some extent
In a shower you can huddle up under it
It allows you to leave the companionway hatch open for ventilation when
it is raining, a big  feature
