Sanders,
You don't mention what reduction gear or prop you have. I'd suggest
taking the boat out on a calm day with smooth seas and motoring until
the bow wave comes up at the stern quarter. That's hull speed, and
there's no point in motoring faster unless you want to get rid of
excess fuel. You could try the same thing with a bit of breeze
and the main up, to get an idea for motor-sailing, too.
