Andante has one of these. Those are actual dimensions. Mine is getting old and has a few cracks. I think it was made out of a softer fir. Was on the boar when I boat it. I am going to make the replacement out of Birch and treat it with Waterlox Marine Finish. As a woodoworker and cabinet builder, I am a big fan of Waterlox (they make three products). I made new comapnionway boards from Teak and Teak veneered ply and used Waterlox and so far it has held up better than anything I tried before. Birch or Rock Maple (not soft) should work nicely for this project. Ask for 8/4 (eight-quarter) thickness. Should be an actual 2" thick less a 1/16th. Find a hobbywood store. Teak will also work, but 8/4 Teak is now $22 a board foot! Birch is about half that.
