Charles,

Good luck with your cockpit floor. That's the first job I attempted
and I didn't do a great job. There's a low spot in the middle where
the water pools and the aft end slopes to starboard. It's really
hard working down in that hole. I did it with the boat in the water
and I'm sure that didn't help.

When I did mine, I used 1/2" klegecell, because the old coring was
1/2". But I put a layer of mat glass down first, so the 1/2" was
too thick. I've now got a gutter all the way around, but it made
the job a lot harder. I'd suggest using 3/8". A 48"x96" (nominal)
sheet of 3/8" klegecell PL75 is $73.80 in the 1998 FCI catalog.
This compares favorably with the $125 price I was quoted locally
for similar foam core. They'll have to cut it into thirds for
shipping. This is the stuff I'm now using for the deck work I'm
doing.

The A30 Maintenance Manual is a perk available to members of the
Alberg 30 Association. It's $18 to members, which really doesn't
include much profit for the Association and certainly doesn't pay
for the hundreds of hours work that went into producing it.
