Dick,
  I was going to go through my manuals and get the info for you on the 
transmission and gear ratios but sounds like you won't need them. I have 
no idea as to what they might be but am going to check cause you got my 
curiousity up if nothing else. After reading the other messages I see 
your not going to buy the Kubota . I know they build an excellent 
tractor enging but have never heard of one in a sailboat, so maybe it's 
a wise decision.
  I've sailed on three boats and all were diesel variety(Volvo, Yanmar, 
and Westerbeke) so know nothing of your gas problems, all I know is I'm 
definately sold on the diesels. Never the first problem with any of them 
but have always given them good PM.
  If you would still like that other info let me know,
