Hi Russ,
The reefing line is belayed around the boom, goes up to the reef cringle on
the leach, then aft to the fiddle block, then forward along the boom. The
sail is still pulled right down to the boom, and then aft to tighten the foot
as tight as you would like it.

I found with the 'older' layout, ie; dead end on boom, up through reef
cringle, back to cheek block on boom, aft to turning block and then forward,
or just forward from cheek block, the folds of the sail would get caught in
the loop thus formed, and would interfere with getting a nice tight foot.
This 'new' way, the reefing line only goes along one side of the sail, and
reefing is much faster and easier.

If you look at newer boats, instead of having to deal with fiddle blocks and
such, they have custom made end boom fittings with three or four built in
sheaves, so the lines lead forward internaly. Very nice. If I could find one
of these custom end boom fittings that fit the section of our booms, I would
go with it.

Nice chatting with ya'
