John,
As Gordon mentioned, the builder's plate should be above the bridge
deck below the companionway. I think it was around 1972 that the
US Coast Guard started requiring ID numbers molded into the
transom of boats sold in the US. Therefore, only the later boats
have these numbers.
As for a bow pulpit, any marine metal fabricator should be able
to make one for you. I think the original ones were made by
Tops In Quality.
