Hi All:
My question about Bow Chocks pertains to the newer boats, those with the
aluminum fitting(I think) on the bow. Our bow chocks screw into this nose
piece which also holds the turnbuckle for the forestay. The nose piece is
then bolted to the fore deck. Its a pretty hefty piece of gear.

Question: How do I unscrew these bow chocks from the nose piece?---they're
stuck. I expect the screws are stainless steel and have "bonded" with the
aluminum. I am pretty sure they are not thru bolted through the nose piece
and into the deck. I expect they are similar to the machine screws/bolts
used to seat the mast the in the mast step.

Should I try a penetrating oil? Or maybe a little heat? Will I melt the
aluminum around the screws?

The reason I want to remove the chocks is because I have found a way to
design a bow sprit/anchor roller for the new boats, but it will not fit
because the chocks are in the way. I want to remove the chocks and
reinstall them on the bow sprit/anchor roller.

Has anyone ever tried to remove these things on a newer boat?

Thanks in advance;
