Ok, thanks all!!.
Sounds like the consensus is to remove the manifold, drill or grind the
bolts off for the pipe flange, then get the whole thing separated and
replace the pipe.

The manifold I guess unbolts from the rest of the engine block, then, but
where will the exhaust pipe be disconnected from the exhaust system? At the
base of the bronze water lift? Or at the elbow some where? Will this
unscrew from here? If the pipe sheers, is it a problem betting the rest of
it removed? Maybe you remove the whole thing- manifold, elbow, and water
lift?
