Joe,

Most boats have exhaust systems that have been modified since they 
left the factory.  On my boat, I disconnect the hose that connects
the mixing pipe to the waterlift muffler.  At the worst, you may have
to cut one of the exhaust pipes.  Since you'll probably be replacing
it anyway, this shouldn't be of much concern.
