Dick, a usefull suggestion. When you have a new backstay made up, put a 
Johnson backstay adjuster on it. Less than $150  (I think) it 's simple, 
strong, and it works wonderfully.  You don't need to keep a lot of tension on 
the rig, except when you are sailing. A few turns tighter, helps pointing, 
and sail set.  As long as youre makeing one up........Remember to loosen it 
when you get ready to leave her.
