I recently had a trailer made for #590.  The weight of the
boat is around 9,000 lbs empty.  The welder said I would
need at least a 3/4 ton pickup. I use a 2 5/16 inch ball and
a brake package on the truck is necessary, as well as the
usual electric brakes on the trailer. I only pull the
trailer when it's empty with my half-ton, and get someone
with a one-ton truck to pull the boat & trailer loaded.
