In Md. you don't have to have insurance if you own the boat. the risk is all yours. But, if someone gets injured on your boat and you don't have liability, you are personally liable. You could lose your house, car, etc. if they sue and get a judgement. Without a specific rider, your Homwowners Insurance does not apply.I have liability ($500k), but that's all since the boat is 35 years old. ($65/yr)
