I would guess that if you
  1. have installed Internet Explorer 4 or 5 or are running Win98
and
  2. have left javascript active in mail (Edit | Preferences | 
     Advanced | Enable JavaScript for Mail and News)
you could be affected.

Even Mac users shouldn't be too smug.  This virus didn't affect
them, but Mac's aren't immune to virii.  In fact, the first
time I ever saw a virus it was on a Mac.  The point is that 
malicious programs have become all-too-common and, unless we
all take precautions, will become more so.

There was a saying in the 80's: "Practice safe hex.  Wear a
write-protect tab."
