During some recent engine work I had the Yard put in a bilge pump. 
They hung the pump from an aluminum bar at the aft end of the battery 
compartment and ran the hose to a new thru hull in the stern. My 
problem is that the amount of water that is in the hose when the pump 
shuts off (and runs back into the bilge) is just about enough to 
start the pump again. As a result the pump cycles on ALL the time.

Would a check valve work, or does anyone have any other suggestions??
