Peter,

I'm finding that Rule Elastomeric is working very well.  It's a 
flexible sealant.  After cleaning everything up, I taped around
the chainplates on the deck.  Then I squirted on plenty of
sealant and shaped it with a tongue depressor.  After it set
up, I removed the tape.
