Thanks for the praise. The hull was Imroned about 5 years ago. Hadn't heard that about the props. It's Micron33 on the bottom. When I pulled the boat this year all the paint was worn off the prop anyway. No pitting or galvanic action that I can see, although the lead on the shaft had been eaten pretty well.
an extension of the stay to the stem???? Chainplate through the deck at the bulkhead, then 90 degrees to the stem?

As far as the chainplate for the inner headstay, I have a bulkhead between the V berths and the chain locker, I was planning on re-enforcing it and attaching the chainplate to that and then running an extension of the stay to the stem. In theory, that should provide ample strength. The stay will be disconnected and lashed to the mast when not needed.
I already have short sail tracks set inboard of my shrouds that I assume can be used for the stays'l and I have 4 sheet winches in the cockpit.
