Ton You figured it out....I mounted mine on the lid of the starboard 
lazerette.  with a small reinforcement  piece epoxyed to the under side to 
support it.  No problem with the hinges at all.  True, you do have to move it 
to open the lid, but I seldon open that one underway.  I ran the wireing back 
into the locker, and I just plug it in and close the lid.  no problems at 
all.  been working that way for 13 years
