[alberg30] Boom Vang arrangements

After sailing Carina Vela on her shakedown for the season, we have realized
that there is tooo much twist in the main, and the time has come for a boom
vang.  I was wondering what different arrangements have been used on other
albergs (not utilizing roller-reefing mains), considering that the boom is
too large for a conventional bale.  Also, have people had luck with 4:1,
5:1, or 6:1 purchases? and should this be led back to a winch on the cabin
house?  How far aft on the boom should the bale be located for the most
effective use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
