Joe -

My boat had the same set up, except no one had replaced the dead
electronics, they just left the transducers.  I re-used the done for the
depth sounder, but not the speedo.  The speedo sender on my boat was
literally crumbling away, so I removed it & found that the actual hole in
the hull was very small - 1/2" or 5/8", I think.  Since I wasn't sure if I
would want to put in a speedo at a later date, I just bought a bronze bolt,
nut, & washers of the proper diameter & put that in the whole (with
appropriate sealant, of course.  It was a lot easier, cheaper, and I can
re-use the hole at a later date.

Just something to think about.
