Another good book is "Down Denmark Strait" I think the author is Newbold Smith... a good and fairly detailed tale. His trip was in a Swan 55; New England, Newfoundland - Iceland - Spitsbergen - Norway. Strangely, he seemed as concerned about encountering communists as ice.

Suggest you read Jmmy Cornell's Book "World Cruising Routes" as a good planner for departure times, route links, expected conditions and safe passages. I don't know of any sites specifically.
  Good luck, fair winds.

I would like to start planning a trip to the Maritimes, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe, Shetland, and Orkney Island, Norway and Scotland. Does anyone know a good site to information on this type of trip. John Bailey"Zevulun" #33
