Bill, I had my bottom drop board rebuilt last year.  they replaced the teak 
pluwood in the niddle.  I had one built for another boat, and that one was 
two pieces high  tounge and groove, with end pieces fitted on them..  Held 
together with epoxy it was a work of art.
