Guy ... If you fail with the "locking 2 nuts together" trick,  you might
try a handy little tool called a "stud remover" of all things. I believe
the one I have was bought a Sears. It was given to me by a friend and
has bailed me out more than once. It is a bit hard to describe but has
an eccentric cam which tightens on the stud as you turn with a ratchet
or strong arm. A very handy gizmo to have.
