I am interested in upgrading the alternator on my atomic 4 on #499. I want something that will charge my two Grp 27 80ah batteries more efficiently. I have the orginal motorola 30A alternator with internal regulator on my engine now.

Balmar sells a Model 912-75 for about $369.00 through West Marine, and an additional external regulator is $139. Is there anything cheaper, that others have had success with?

I would be interested in hearing other's recommendations.
