Go with marine grade ply. I just finished roughing in a new galley top
(Star.) and nav. station (port) using teak finished 9 ply 3/4 inch. I
wouldn't consider anything other than marine grade if you want the job to
last. I plan to finish the teak and hopefully it will look great. I have one
of the older boats which came with the vertical ice box with a door. I
ripped it out and soon I'll have a nav. station over top of a new, top
entry, ice box.
