[Alberg30] Mainsheet Traveler?

When our boats were manufactured the traveler system didn't exist. The two
blocks on deck was quite common, I had sailed a Pearson Vanguard 1966 which
had the same configuration. I have seen the Alberg with a traveler system in
St. Martin but was not sure if it was installed the by owner or by Whitby.

I'm just getting familiar with the A30 I purchased in January. One of the
mysteries (and there are many as this is my first boat of any size) regards
the mainsheet blocks. Why are there blocks on either side rather than a
traveler? The current setup seems slower to sheet and more prone to twisting
if tension is lost.

I might add that my boat is 1965 vintage in case there was a change over the
years.
