Hello, Im not 100% sure my boat which has no identifying markings, is in
fact an Alberg 30. It looks like one. The transom matches pictures I have
seen, the keel and rudder look right, the cabin looks to be right and the
cockpit is the same style. I havent measured it very accurately, I have a
12" tape and I come close to 30" when I measure. I know the alberg is
supposed to be 30'3". Now I will tell you some of the details. There is no
core above the cabin, just fiberglass beams stretching the width of the
cabin every 2' or so. The cabin top is about 1/2 inch of solid glass. The
area below the mast step may be cored, Im not positive. The deck around the
cabin is not cored at least where I have torn the inside paneling off and
shone a light through the hull, I dont imagine light would shine through a
core very well? There is no core in the cockpit. It appears that the tiller
has been moved from the cockpit to behind the lazarette hatch. The rigging
looks like other alberg pictures. Inside, most of the interior is not
original, the setees may be original, both thin fiberglass. the bulkhead
between the setees and the head and closet is 1" ply, glassed to the hull,
the cap-shroud chainplates attatch to this with 1/4" bolts. Above this
bulkhead is a beam glassed to support the mast. there is also a steel frame
in the doorway, added by a preious owner. My ballast is glassed over, it
begins below the mast, and ends at the rear of the setees, where it becomes
a sump, probably down to the bottom the the keel. under the engine, there is
about 18" of something, it appears to be glassed over. My companionway is
off center towards starboard. The groove along the side (whatever you call
that) starts about a foot aft of the bow. what do you all think?? thanks
alot,
Ian MacIntosh
