[Alberg30] insurance

Daniel,

I've got coverage through Allstate, and it's probably half that cost.
If I had it to do over, however, I'd go through Al Golden at
International Marine Insurance Services (800-541-4647 or
mail at imiscorp.net).
Al's a former long-distance cruiser and an independent agent. He
represents the boat owner, not the insurance company. He can also
deal with several companies to find the best deal for your situation.

It's not that I'm unhappy with Allstate. Al did point out some
differences between their policy and a standard marine policy.
Fortunately I've got a good agent that I trust, having seen her
go to bat for a friend. I've never had a claim, myself, but I
think that for coverage on the Chesapeake Bay, the Allstate policy
is OK. But if I were looking for new insurance, I'd call Al.

Disclaimer: I've known Al for a bunch of years and think he's
a good guy and straight-shooter. I could be biased, though.

 - George
