I like my speakers to port and starboard of the electrical panel, facing
forward.  Besides sounding good, the magnetic fields work wonders
stabilizing irritation gyrations in the compass.  It's steady as a rock no
matter what is going on.  Alwasy reads a nice number.  In fact, once we
learned the number, we never had to lift the cover to look at the compass to
see what it was reading.
