Hi Joe,

Two years ago I was sailing my Alberg designed 23' keelboat, a Pearson
Electra, when I had forgotten my charts of Lake Erie and sailed into
what I thought was a little bay but I didn't know it showed 2' depth! I
hit a sandbar while under sail and power and bounced up and down with
the waves, hitting bottom rather vigorously, shaking my rig...finally,
about forty minutes later, we managed to put together a motley crew to
turn Spindrift around facing the open lake, then managed to get her off
the bar. In the Fall, when we hauled her, we had a few cosmetic scrapes
on the bottom of the fiberglass 'neath the keel.

The old wooden rudder held up just fine!

Good Luck!
