on how kids this age do on the boat? >>
I have a seven-year-old who has been on my A30 since she was five. She LOVES
the idea of the boat, and enjoys brief forays around the harbor on it, and
playtime aboard her. But she loses patience for longer daytrips and
overnighters. My liimited experience tells me that small kids and cruising
do not mix easily.
At first, I was prepared to chalk blame it on the pernicious effects of TV on
the attention span of American youth. But then I remembered the looong car
trips my parents would make each summer from Norfolk to their parents' homes
in Tennessee, which even now I recall as interminable exercises. So perhaps
it is not a sin of television but a general condition of the age that does
not tolerate long-legged travel well.
Are we there yet?
